IKEA Storage Hacks That Actually Look Good

I’m back with another round of inspiring IKEA hacks. This time zeroing in on the best hacks that not only look remarkable, but are also great storage solutions. It’s time to bust out your creativity hat and start customizing some furniture! I need to warn you though – these IKEA storage hacks are so good they will have you canceling all weekend plans and running to the nearest Swedish Furniture store.

1. IKEA Kitchen Storage Hack

If you have a free wall in your kitchen you could add additional storage with IKEA’s SEKTION kitchen cabinets. Brittany and her husband from The Vintage Rug Shop  did just that in their kitchen. They purchased the cabinets from IKEA and ordered custom door fronts from Semihandmade, a company that supplies super trendy door fronts for all of IKEA’s products. Now they have a huge built in pantry that looks awesome. IKEA storage hack for the win!

2. DIY Floating Credenza

I love this floating credenza, its so modern and simple. Amber from Amber Interiors DIY’d this floating storage using two cabinets from IKEA’s SEKTION line (originally intended to be a cabinet above a fridge). She then used an oak plank cut to size and stained for a beautiful top that looks 100% custom. This IKEA storage hack is great for a home office, dinning room buffet, or even a media cabinet. I actually did this hack myself and it’s was great inexpensive storage solution for my living room. One of my favorite IKEA storage hacks for sure!

3. DIY IKEA Makeup Table

Every girl needs a makeup table, but not everyone has space for one! I love this little IKEA storage hack by Erin where she took an IKEA EKBY ALEX shelf and turned it into the perfect little vanity. The narrow profile is great for the bedroom or walk in closet because it doesn’t take up too much room. By adding her own custom legs, a little bench, and an adorable mirror, she now has her very own space to get ready every morning.

4. Built-in Office Storage

Everyone dreams of having the perfect office with floor to ceiling built-in bookcase, but custom cabinetry can be SO expensive. Stephanie from Studio 36 ran into this exact problem with her home office. She needed a storage solution that looked great and didn’t leave her with a gaping hole in her wallet. Creating an IKEA storage hack on the HEMNES bookshelf solved all of her problems. By getting a little creative with trim and molding, a beautiful built-in bookcase was born! A great hack that can be replicated in so many spaces. See the full detailed tutorial here.

5. From Bland to Beautiful

This IKEA hack is one of my favorites because its simple and fool proof. By applying metallic tape in a simple geometric pattern you can literally transform any boring IKEA cabinet into a beautiful statement piece in under 5 minuets. Hacks like these are great because they allow you to personalize your furniture. So go pick up some metallic or washi tape and go crazy! Customize everything! The best part is, if you don’t like the design you’ve created, you can peel the tape off and start all over. If you want to check out the full tutorial check out Paul’s blog post here.

6. IKEA Dresser Hack

At first glance I thought there was zero chance this dresser could be IKEA, but after reading the full tutorial on Hunker I have to say I was completely blown away. This IKEA hack requires a little more patience than most I’ve shared so far but the end result is 100% worth it. If you’ve fallen in love with the clean modern geometric lines and you’ve decided to DIY your own, be sure to remind yourself that a dresser like this would retail for at LEAST $1,000 as you painstakingly glue on those square dowels.
