Before we get started, let’s talk about spray paint. When it comes to spray paint – quality matters people! I am impartial to Rust-Oleum spray paint, I use it on all my projects. The best part about using Rust-Oleum spray paint is they have every color imaginable! I love the variety, it allows for much more personalized projects.
Warning! Make sure you read the label and buy a spray paint specifically for the substrate you’ll be painting! This ensures the paint will stick and not easily be scratched off. Check out all the options Amazon has to offer here.
Dip Dyed Stool
These fun stools by Style Me Pretty are a great example of how a little bit of spray paint and tape can go a long way. Get yourself a SKOGSTA IKEA stool (or two), pick a few colors that match your space and VOILA! You’ve got yourself an adorable stool you can use for extra seating, a side table, or even a plant stand. These stools will only run you $25, so what do you have to loose? Grab a can of spray paint and get to it girl!
Spray Paint Gold Office Chair
Finally, an office chair fit for the boss babe that you are! Alicia hacked this IKEA office chair by spray painting the metal gold. I love this idea! What a great inexpensive way to add a bit of fabulous to your home office. And the best part? You can literally finish this project in 15 minuets. That’s a major win in my books! Unfortunately IKEA has discontinued the chair used in this DIY. It’s a bummer, but if you keep your eyes open in your local classifieds I’m sure you’ll find one. People are always selling IKEA furniture online for next to nothing. I Always check out Craigslist before heading over to IKEA to buy something new.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a desk to go with your freshly painted gold office chair. Keep reading and check out the next IKEA hack on the list!
Gold Office Desk
I’m loving this killer office space by Teresa from Money Can Buy Lipstick. She took the IKEA Alex desk and spray painted the metal legs gold to better match her style. I think your work environment deeply affects your mood, productivity, and happiness. I know I feel happier and work better in a well-designed space that’s exactly my style. After a quick spray paint job Teresa has a fabulous office space she can totally call her own. I love an easy IKEA hack! Are you looking around your home right now wondering what else you can spray paint? I sure am!
Ombre Spray Paint IKEA Hack
This has got to be the easiest IKEA hack in the entire list. No need for tape on this one, just start your spray paint at the base of the basket and work your way up until you’re happy with the ombre you’ve achieved! I love this fun take on a traditional woven wicker basket. Adding a splash of bright pink totally modernizes this otherwise traditional basket. The only bummer is that IKEA no longer sells this particular basket (sob), but you can easily get the same look with the SNIDAD basket. I think I might try out my own version of this DIY painted basket. My dog has more toys than a spoiled toddler and her toy collection has outgrown her basket. Check out the original hack by Zilverblauw here for more detailed instructions.
Black And Gold Pendant
This DIY tutorial by Style at Home completely elevates the style of the HEKTAR IKEA light fixture. Gold and black lighting is definitely a trend that’s here to stay. This hack will have all your friends asking where you got that awesome light fixture!
Black and Gold IKEA Bar Stool Hack
Melodrama knocked this IKEA hack out of the park! She brought these bar stools from a 5 to a show stopping 10. These bar stools look so high class (and expensive) no one would ever think they are actually from IKEA. The DALFRED bar stool retails for just under $40, plus a $10 can of spray paint and an hour (at most) of taping and painting. For under $50 a pop who wouldn’t want to replicate this awesome IKEA hack?

Colorful and Coordinated
Livet Hemma stylists used one can of spray paint to customize this IKEA work space. This office went from bland to edgy with just a few coats of paint. Can we also just take a minuet to appreciate how fantastically styled this space is? The books are a perfect complement to the green desk and chair, not to mention the cute cut flowers tapped up on the wall. Don’t you wish your home office looked like this?

Upscale Wall Shelf
Melodrama added a bit of personality to her EKBY JÄRPEN / EKBY BJÄRNUM IKEA wall brackets by spraying them down with some gold paint. The gold adds warmth to the space and is just so much better than the typical silver finish the bracket comes in. And how perfect does it match IKEA’s RANARP floor lamp? A perfect match.
