Using Exterior paint from The Home Depot, I’ve matched these paint swatches to homes with outstanding modern design.

Dark & Moody Exterior Color Scheme

If you’re looking for a sophisticated moody exterior, this is the color pallet for you! This dark front entrance has a great modern design. A deep grey is the main finish for the exterior paneling with an accent of medium grey for the horizontal siding. A deep black paint color is used for the trim and the railings. The exterior design has emphasized horizontal lines found on the front door, railings, and siding. Modern Mid Century Exterior Paint Colors

This funky modern home (actually found on Airbnb) has a bright modern paint pallet that I just adore. This modern color combination is guaranteed to stand out in any neighborhood. Bright blue is the ‘wow’ factor in this modern exterior, combined with the perfect complementing stained wood and a tiny amount of grey blue trim, you’ve got yourself a showstopper! Who wouldn’t want to stay in this modern home?

Deep Navy Modern Exterior Paint

This is a great example of how a home with a more traditional design can be made modern with the correct paint color combination. I think the easiest way to update a home exterior is to paint it dark. Traditional homes (20-30 years old) were typically clad with light color finishes and colors. A quick coat of dark pant will do wonders if a little update is all you need. This deep navy is an excellent choice paired with pure black window trims and that classic golden oak door. Isn’t it funny how this orange toned wood has become a staple in modern home design?

Traditional Brick With Modern Elements

I know painted brick is trending right now, but I am IN LOVE with this natural brick finish combined with modern black paint. The black architectural elements are the focal point against the neutral brick and cream paint trim. These modern exterior paint colors work so well together.

Timeless Modern Paint Color Combination

Modern Desert Oasis Color Scheme

I might live in the PNW, but I absolutely adore modern desert architecture. Clean lines combined with open outdoor courtyards and living spaces are staples in this design style. This is a great neutral paint color scheme that would work on almost any home. I know I know, your’e probably sick of all these gray color combinations, but sorry guys! Grey is modern! However, grey is a super tricky paint color. When working with grey paint on your home exterior you will need to do several test patches to make sure you have the correct tone!

Modern Gray With Red Door

There is nothing that pops more than a bright red door, especially when its against a deep grey exterior. I am loving this grey brick facade. Grey brick isn’t very common and I’d love to see more of it. The painted red door with black and grey exterior combination is another modern color combination that will be in style for a long time.

Modern White Exterior Color Scheme

Just because I have a love affair for dark exteriors at the moment, doesn’t mean you should shy away from light colors. This modern home looks beautiful in a white paint color scheme paired with charcoal black accents and window trims. Another idea for updating your home – just paint your window trims! I’ll go out on a limb here and say that over 50% of new build homes have black (or another dark color) window trims. It’s a trend that has shifted from white to black over the past 5 years and it makes a huge difference.
