DIY IKEA Nightstand Hack Ideas For Your Bedroom
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to upgrade your bedroom nightstands, this is it! But before you run out and spend $100’s of dollars on new furniture, consider these IKEA nightstand hack ideas first! The thing I love about IKEA hacks is you can customize their products to match any style you want! I’ve sourced amazing IKEA nightstand hack projects in a variety of styles like industrial, boho, chic, mid century, and modern. If the nightstands in this post aren’t exactly what you’re looking for, I hope it inspires you to get creative and come up with a fresh new idea.
IKEA Rast Hack With Cane
There are SO many good things about this IKEA bedside table hack – but lets start with the cane. Cane is such a big trend right now and this project by Roost & Ramble proves it! It adds a beautiful texture and natural element to her bedroom. My next favourite element of the dresser is the two tone paint job. Black is a perfect combo with natural cane and really gives the nightstand a high end feel.
IKEA Bedside Table Cane Up-cycle
Another great IKEA nightstand hack idea using cane! Olivia, from Lust Living, up-cycled an IKEA SONGESAND bedside table by replacing the centre door panel with a woven fisheye cane material. She also switched out the hardware for a brass door knob. The result is an updated bedside table with just the right amount of chic. Head on over to her blog to see the full tutorial!

RAST Nightstand With Open Shelf
Talk about an upgrade! This IKEA RAST nightstand got a complete makeover when Stefani got ahold of it! She gave the nightstand a new leg and removed a drawer for a bit of open storage. Open storage is so practical in a nightstand and is the perfect hideaway for baskets and books. She also painted the bedside tables a gorgeous deep teal which just looks fantastic in her bedroom. I’m totally in love with the result!
DIY Wallpaper Drawer Front
All it took for The Pretty Life Girls to re-vamp this IKEA TARVA nightstand was some 3D wallpaper and a fresh coat of paint. You all know I’m a huge fan of dark green paint (see my post here on dark green accent wall ideas) so I am a huge supporter of their decision to go bold with this awesome color. To create the faux embossed look on the drawer face they used a paintable wallpaper. With the addition of a cute little knob this nightstand is the perfect addition to any bedroom.
IKEA Nightstand Hack With Woven Shelf
OK how awesome are these nightstands made by Lita?! She was eyeing a pair of high end nightstands for her bedroom when she decided to DIY her own. By creating her own NORDSKIA IKEA hack she literally saved herself thousands of dollars! Now thats my kind of girl! I think that woven shelf is fantastic and it totally plays into the light and airy vibes in her bedroom.
Simple IKEA Bedside Table Hack
This IKEA bedside table hack from The Lovely Drawer is all about the small details. She turned what otherwise would be a VERY basic NESNA side table into a mid century inspired beauty. Finished in a faux walnut stain, she applied a white vinyl to the glass top. She even went through all the trouble to paint the exposed hardware gold. And you’ll never guess what she used to do it – gold nail-polish! Hey if it works, it works!
IKEA RAST Nightstand Makeover
This IKEA RAST nightstand got a total makeover from XO My Home. With a unique drawer front treatment, a fresh paint job and new hardware, its hard to decide what I like most! You can’t even tell this nightstand is actually from IKEA!
Easy IKEA Nightstand Hack
This IKEA nightstand hack is so easy, anyone can do it! Dream Green DIY created this IKEA nightstand hack to use as an end table in her living room. All you need to achieve a similar look is a coat of black paint and some stained wood dowels! You can apply the dowels to the drawer face using wood glue, no power tools required!
