Outdoor Patio Design Ideas For Your Backyard

With all of us spending more time at home than ever, our outdoor spaces are about to be in the spotlight. Warm weather its on its way and its time to start utilizing our patios and backyards to their full potential! I’ve put together some of my favorite outdoor patio design ideas for your backyard, just in time for summer.

Charming Outdoor Living Area

Everything about this outdoor patio design is just so charming. From the paper lanterns, handmade macrame wall hangings and the ivy ceiling, this outdoor living area exudes all things charm and cozy. I love the black back drop that acts as a wall and really grounds this outdoor living space. This look can be fairly easily replicated by using an exterior wall or a fence as the focal point.

Simple Outdoor Patio Makeover

Livvy revamped the outdoor living space on her patio with outdoor furniture and ambient lighting (I’m a total sucker for those string lights). With the addition of some colorful throw pillows and several potted plants, she’s achieved a outdoor patio design for many relaxing evenings enjoying the backyard.

Your Very Own Backyard Getaway

Even a simple space in a backyard with two chairs can provide a beautiful moment of relaxation. Vine plants like Ivy are great for creating a shaded space and should be considered when designing your own backyard getaway. The only thing I would add to this patio? You guessed it – string lights.

Urban BOHO Patio Idea

This urban boho inspired patio is perfect for summer lounging. Fit with privacy hedges, cane chairs, a DIY plywood sofa and a pallet coffee table, theres room for the whole family. Other things I love about this patio design is the outdoor rug, string lights and of course a mini fire pit. Your girl is ALWAYS down for some s’mores!

Relaxing Outdoor Patio Design

Who else would love to have an afternoon nap on this patio? Shelby from Pretty in the Pines created this relaxing patio space at her home in NYC. The large umbrella provides enough shade for the whole patio and also helps to visually ground the space. The outdoor rugs and potted plants are other favorites in this relaxing patio design.

I loved your example of an urban boho patio that can be used for anything from coffee breaks to family lounge activities. A patio like this could really help me out when my relatives visit and there’s no more space in the actual house to fit them. I’ll start looking for a paving contractor that can lay down some asphalt as a foundation for this patio so I can start on the project.

I have to say…I love all these ideas. Every single one of these photos looks very relaxing. I especially love the look of the first photo. The only problem I have is that I live in the midwest where we get a lot of rain, wind and storms. Other wise I would be re designing my patio tomorrow. Thanks for giving me ideas though!
